When you get an asthma attack, your lungs tighten and your airways become smaller and restricted. The onset of an asthma attack will see the person struggle to breath and if not helped, they could even die.

Most people who have asthma need to have lots of various medicines that can even have cumulative detrimental side effects. I bet you had no idea that you have lots of natural cures for asthma lying around your house that can help build up your respiratory system.

Honey is a very powerful food for our lungs. Mixing honey to a cup of steaming water and inhaling it will instantly clear the breathing pathways. For maintenance, a person with asthma only needs to take in 3 glasses of water with 1 tablespoon of honey daily.

I bet you think that drinking a mix of garlic and milk would be horrible and maybe you’re correct. But, other than honey, milk and garlic is one of the best cures you can have if you have asthma. All you have to do is add four cloves of garlic to boil milk and then drink it.

There are obviously many creative ways you can alleviate your problems with asthma. Find something that works well for you and continue to implement it.

Of course, knowing what triggers your asthma attacks is the best solution. If you knew this, you could just avoid what was causing them.

You should definitely speak to your physician when trying to cope with a sickness, particularly asthma. Make a time to go and have a chat and talk over all your various options.

It is hard living with asthma. Actually, it is a very common sickness that afflict people, and also one of the most difficult to cure. By using medicine throughout your life you may actually cause some serious harm so look out for other options too.

Diets rich in fruit and vegetables, according to many medical studies reduce the risk of developing many serious chronic diseases.

Diets rich in fruit and vegetables, according to many medical studies reduce the risk of developing many serious chronic diseases.

Apples are widely consumed and are a rich source of potent antioxidants. They stopped cancer cell growth, lower cholesterol and reduce fat oxidation (damage). Studies have linked its consumption with a reduced risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers and asthma. Chemical evaluation have found apples possess significant antioxidant activity.

Apples contain a variety of powerful antioxidants including quercitin and catechin.

Many studies have specifically determined consuming apples is associated with a reduced risk for cancer, particularly lung cancer. One large study conducted in the Netherlands of over 120,000 people found fruit and vegetable consumption was linked to a 21 per cent reduction of lung cancer a in women, but this association was not present in men. Additional research studies have made similar observations in women and men, including a Finnish study of over 10,000 women and men followed for over two decades. It found a strong relationship between low flavonoid intake and lung cancer development.

And eating apples is linked to a 35 per cent reduced risk of heart disease in a study of 40,000 women followed for almost 7 years.

Lower rates of asthma and general lung health are also related to a higher intake of apples. A recent study conducted in Australia involving 1600 adults found that pear and apple intake is associated with a decrease in lung airway hypersensitivity and asthma, but that overall fruit and vegetable consumption was not associated with asthma risk or the severity of the disease. Another study determined that selenium and apple intake were associated with reduced incidence of asthma in adults in England. Apple and orange consumption are associated with fewer cases of asthma in a study conducted in Finland involving over 10,000 men and women.

Improved and objectively measure lung function were positively linked to apple, citrus fruit and squash consumption. Apple consumption remained positively associated with lung function after considering other factors including smoking, exercise, body mass index, socioeconomic status. Individuals consuming more than 5 apples a week had better lung function than those who did not eat apples.

There are more and more people that are developing allergies and asthma thanks to the high amount of allergens that float around in the air. One of the ways that you can protect your family from illness is by purchasing air purifiers to remove pollutants.

With more awareness these days about the effects of pollution and the way that air born allergens can affect people air purifiers are beginning to capture more people’s interest. In the air there can be molds, bacteria, viruses, hair, skin flakes, pollen and other things that can spark allergies and reduce people’s health.

There are a few different types of air purifiers that can be bought. Typically they remove pollutants with filters, ozone or electrical attraction. Purifiers that have filters passes the air through sieves, which trap contaminants. The most effective air purifiers can pass air through the filters about six times each hour.

Air purifiers that utilize electrical attraction to clean air generally trap harmful particles and remove them from the air in the room. There are three different types of these purifiers: negative ion purifiers, electrostatic cleaners and electret filters.

A purifier that uses electrostatic force draws in particles and then charges them and alters their charge and rids the particles of their contaminants. While these purifiers can be very effective at their job buying replacement pieces can sometimes be expensive so check into this before you buy. An electret filter works uses static caused from synthetic fiber to attract the contaminants into metal trays, which need to be cleaned and dried occasionally.

An ionic purifier shoots out negatively charged ions out into the room. The ions that float around the room then draw in the particles and attach to them. More and more particles attach to the ions and then they sink to the ground. The particles are then vacuumed up or swept away. The ozone type of air purifier is sometimes available, but is not generally recommended because ozone can actually irritate the lungs and cause health problems, which defeats the purpose of the air purifier. Ozone can be found in the environment is low doses, but it is not something that you should actively put into the air in your home.

Buying a purifier that has HEPA filters is a great idea since these are required to meet regulations and standards. This means that an air purifier that meets standards is likely to be more effective than one that has not been put through the same rigorous testing methods.

An air purifier can make your home a safer place to be with air that is cleaner and has few irritants, allergens and pollutants floating around inside. These devices ca be especially important for people who do suffer from allergy related illnesses such as asthma. Look into the different types of purifiers to choose which one suits your needs best and will deliver the best health outcomes for your family.

Locating the air purifier that is perfect for your needs is fast and easy! You can select from many different air purifiers to locate the one that will fit in your home perfectly today!

If you have a baby, you may be worried about her or him having a baby food allergy. While the quantity of cases of food allergies has exponentially expanded in the past decade, the share of children and children with food allergies is still proportionately low. However, if you or somebody in your own family has food allergies or your baby has been showing indications of a possible baby food allergy, it is important to become educated on the topic of infant food allergies.

Baby Food Allergy Symptoms

Any baby who has a food allergy will experience symptoms of that allergy. Common symptoms among infants are hives, prolonged eczema and other food allergy rashes, gas, constipation, diarrhea, and inability to sleep due to over the top bad temper. These symptoms are customarily not life-endangering and most likely point to a mild baby food allergy. However, continuing to give your child the allergen could probably increase the symptoms and the seriousness of the reaction in the future.

Other more heavy baby food allergy symptoms include unjustifiable swelling, Problems or disability to breathe, swelling of the throat, lethargy, inappropriate weariness, and even death. If your youngster experiences any issues with respiring or swelling or perhaps lethargy, call 9-1-1 instantly.

Often times these reactions happen so speedily that you simply do not have time to rush your child to the hospital for help or to call your physician. You want paramedic help right away.

Baby Food Allergy Information

Baby food allergies aren’t common, but when they do happen virtually all of them are caused by 8 main foods. Chicken eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts ( like walnuts, brazil nuts, and cashews ), soy, milk, fish, and shellfish ( such as shrimp, lobster, and crabs ). If you’re allergic to any of these foods, the best idea is to delay giving them to your kid till he or she is at least two years of age.

Many allergies in kids are a result of introducing the allergen too shortly to a kid. The general guideline is a kid should not have peanut butter until he or she is one, and much later if the parents or other brothers are allergic. Baby food allergies can be due to early introduction of the food, so it only makes perfect sense to delay introduction so long as possible.

If you’re worried that your child has a baby food allergy that is exhibiting mild reactions, talk to your doctor about getting your youngster tested. For grim reactions, call 9-1-1 right away.

Watching TV, one might think that the only reaction or symptom to a food allergy is immediate onset anaphylactic shock. Television tends to over dramatize things and it isn’t a surprise that food allergies are on the list of melodramatic moments of television. However, not all food allergy symptoms work like they seem to on television. Here is some info on food allergy symptoms to help recognize and deal with your possible food allergy.

When Does The Reaction Take Place?

The food allergy symptom is very related to the process of digestion. Because this is an awfully advanced process that works differently with different foods, digestion is affecting the location, timing, and symptoms of a food allergy. However, a method to know whether or not you are having a food allergy symptom does have to do with time. All allergic reactions to nutrition will occur within one hour of consuming the food.

While some foods can inflict immediate and extreme food allergy symptoms, many are not as conspicuous. Some can start with an itching in the mouth or a slight difficulty in swallowing or breathing. Later, as the food begins to be digested in the gut and viscera, other symptoms may begin to appear.

The individual may be nauseas, she may vomit or have the runs, and abdominal pains are common. All of these symptoms can be confused with food poisoning or just eating your food too quickly. If you have had a food allergy test in the past, know you are allergic to something, and are having these symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.

Less well-known Food Allergy Symptoms

An itchy, distended throat, stomach irritability, and abdominal pains are all relatively common food allergy symptoms. However, there are some other food allergy symptoms that aren’t as widely known. For example, many people relate hives to outdoor allergens. However, once allergens are soaked up and enter into your bloodstream, they may finally reach the skin.

This creates hives or eczema on the surface of the skin. When the allergens reach your airway, it can prompt asthma or asthma like symptoms. An allergen in the blood vessels may also cause lightheadedness, anaphylaxis ( a sudden drop in blood pressure ) and weakness in general.

These symptoms may not easily be related to food allergies, so if you are susceptible to food allergies or know that you have one, make efforts to contact your doctor immediately. Even food allergy symptoms that start off as mild can rapidly progress into a life-threatening condition.

Many of the medicines that we take when providing treatment for various infirmities and which we do without pausing to consider their ingredients are basically the end result of using natural substances that have been synthesized in the laboratories of major pharmaceutical corporations.

Plenty of the medicines that we take when treating varied illnesses and which we do without pausing to consider their ingredients are essentially the end result of using natural substances that have been synthesized in the laboratories of major pharmaceutical corporations.

Penicillin, for one, is a good example showing how the natural substances found in the Amazon regions of South America are used in the making of critical medications. Most of the substances found in nature and which are utilized in the making of medicines are in fact herbs.

Proliferation Of Drug Based Medications

It is therefore a good idea to consider using herbal allergy relief products although the supply of synthetic drug based medications is proliferating and generally used. Folks that have allergies need to find appropriate solutions for their symptoms and herbal allergy relief products are an excellent option that offers numerous benefits.

In truth, many herbal allergy relief products have been around for a considerable time and aren’t a new phenomenon by any stretch of imagination.

Even before the arrival of synthetic medicines, herbs have for long been used by one and all to treat a selection of infirmities. Of late, herbal allergy relief products have started to represent a renewed interest in natural remedy options. The fact of the matter is that most allergies ( excepting intolerance to chemicals ) are a result of natural substances.

In order to fight fire with fire it makes good sense so to turn to getting herbal allergy relief as there are only a few complications to worry about and nature can best fight nature and this has in fact been proved when the effect of herbal allergy relief products are studied.

However, it is not advised to attempt to experiment with different herbal allergy relief products because herbs are very potent and must only be used under medical supervision. You need to consult with pros before checking out any herbal allergy relief product because what works alongside one individual might not work with another and only an expert will be ready to recommend the right solution.

Fall hay fever is a standard case of seasonal allergies and in case you notice evidence of this allergy you may do well to go looking for methods and means by which to get seasonal allergy relief. For example, you might need to spot the level of pollen in the area that you live in and then even move to a place where this count is on the low side to prevent the allergy from inspiring you.

It is also never a great idea to experiment with different herbal allergy relief products simply because they’ve been recommended by an acquaintance or friend since wrong use may cause further suffering.

All recounted and done, using herbal allergy relief products in conjunction with different allergy drugs will turn out to be extraordinarily beneficial in alleviating the suffering caused by different kinds of allergies.

Are you becoming sick on a regular basis? Do you appear to feel dizzy, sick, sick to your belly, or otherwise unwell straight after you eat?

Are you getting sick on a regular basis? Do you seem to feel dizzy, dizzy, sick to your belly, or otherwise indisposed straight after you eat? Are you unable to maintain a respectable weight, and regularly end up shedding pounds for no reason except that you are sick after every meal?

Maybe you have a food allergy. There are numerous common food allergies that people have but do not notice that they have. Food allergies can range from mild to grim, and they can increase in seriousness the more that one is exposed to the food.

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms or your child is experiencing these symptoms, see a doctor and ask about getting a food allergy test.

What It Is

A food allergy test is an allergy test specifically built to test for an allergic reaction to a food. A food allergy test will be done on either the arm or the back, depending on the size of the patient.

Little kids who require a food allergy test will most likely be tested on their back, while adults who need a food allergy test will most likely be tested on their forearm. This test is done with many to several dozen small pin pricks. After each pin prick, the allergen is placed within the open sore.

The allergen is so small that it will not affect the patient more than simply given the patient a small hive or reaction on the injection sight. To inform whether the food allergy test is positive, the test administrator will look for tarnishing, raising of the skin in a hive like bump, other bumps, or any other reaction. This will mean that the patient is allergic to whatever that particular food allergy test was for.

What Does One Do Now?

Now you have taken the food allergy test or had your kid tested with a food allergy test, you could be wondering where to go from here. You or your child tested positive for somethingso what do you do now? In years past, you would’ve been told to fully avoid the food in question.

With particular foodstuffs or food products, it can be extraordinarily tough to completely avoid it. As an example, those with a gluten allergy find it very difficult to have a fascinating and sundry diet at times. Gluten is in a major proportion of foods, and it can be difficult to avoid. However, some doctors will suggest different treatments, based primarily on the scale of the allergy, that don’t always absolutely exclude the food or food product. Talk to your GP to see what will work best for you.

During the European “Copper Age” five thousand years ago, a man of high ranking status fled his home valley of Val Venosta, Italy, across an Alpine glacier. But his enemies caught up with him. An arrow penetrated his subclavian artery, which soon bled him to death. In 1991, two unsuspecting tourists came upon his mummified remains. On the body of “Oetzi the Iceman” were found pouches with two medicinal mushroom species, the oldest known example of mushrooms used medicinally.

One of the mushrooms was Birch polypore – Piptoporus betulinus – which it is believed he used as a remedy against intestinal parasites. Eggs of the whipworm parasite (Trichuris trichiura) were found in his intestines. The other mushroom in the possession of Oetzi was Tinder fungus – Fomes fomentarius – which has been traditionally used in Europe to cauterize wounds and stop bleeding.

Both species belong to the group of mushrooms known as polypores, so named because of the many pores underneath. They often grow on trees, and to date no species is known to be poisonous to humans.

Polypores are usually considered inedible due to the fact that they are hard and wood-like. But for ancient peoples all across the globe – from China and India to Europe and the Americas – polypore teas and poultices have none-the-less been indispensible allies to human health at least for as long as written and oral traditions can recount.

Oral traditions of Native Americans bear tale of many types of polypores being used to help against the diseases brought by the Europeans, including Birch polypore but also Reishi (Ganoderma resinaceum), Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor), Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) and the now almost vanished species Agarikon (Fomitopsis officinalis).

And as though by no coincidence, Agarikon also holds the distinction as the oldest medicinal mushroom in historic European literature. In 65 B.C., Greek physician Dioscorides recorded it in Materia Medica as a remedy for tuberculosis. More recently, K. Grzywnowics in a 2001 article titled Medicinal Mushrooms in Polish Folk Medicine said Agarikon tea was traditionally considered an elixir for long life and listed historical uses to include lung conditions (coughing, asthma) and rheumatoid arthritis, but also infected wounds and open bleeding.

While mushrooms have been utilized medicinally in the West, it pales in comparison to the adulation they have received in the Orient. Next follows three species of medicinal mushrooms from Asia, which simply have to be included in any article on medicinal mushrooms.

First in this list has to be Reishi, a mushroom so revered throughout Asian history that it’s found in numerous ancient wood-carvings and temple engravings. It also owns the distinction as the oldest medicinal mushroom in Chinese literature, first encountered in Shen Nong’s Herbal Classic, 2,000 B.C. Often referred to as a “panacea, its acclaimed properties are too numerous to list.

Next is Cordyceps, a minute fungus from the Tibetan plateau, parasitising on silk caterpillars. Cordyceps sinensis was first mentioned as a medicinal mushroom in The Classic Herbal of the Divine Plowman from 200 A.D. It is popular with athletes to improve physical stamina. Historically, it’s been used as an aphrodiciac.

Finally there is Shiitake, the number one gourmet mushroom of the Orient. Shiitake has been cultured in China for approximately 1,000 years as a food. What is less known is that it is also one of the most researched medicinal mushrooms in the world. A polysaccharide extracted from Shiitake is approved in Japan as an anti-cancer drug. Other qualities hinted at by research include antibiotic and immune enhancer.

Modern research into medicinal use of mushrooms began in earnest in the late 1960′s Japan. One pioneer, Dr. Ikekawa, discovered that families of mushroom growers had significantly lower cancer rates than their surrounding communities. Scientific research into medicinal mushrooms has expanded exponentially since that time and continues to increase and intensify until this day. Medicinal mushrooms are still in the process of making history.

Note: The information in this article is for informational purposes only. Mushrooms have not been aproved for medicinal use by the FDA. Always consult a licensed medical practitioner about the treatment of any medical condition.

Dr. Rafael has worked in the natural health field since the mid-90′s as a researcher and author, now specializing in fungi for health. Click medicinal mushrooms for more articles and mushroom products. Material for this article comes from several different sources. However, a significant portion comes from the books of medicinal fungi expert Paul Stamets, who deserves special credit and thanks.

Food allergies are very common among both kids and adults. In recent years, food allergies became more frequent for many unknown reasons. Because of this, more and more information is starting to become available on food allergies. Less and less folks are having severe allergic reactions because testing is improving and people are being diagnosed before having a severe, even deadly, reaction.
General Information On Food Allergies

A food allergy is when a person has an allergic retort to any type of food. Actually, miniscule amounts can cause severely sensitive individuals to have an allergic reaction. Such allergic displays can range between the very mild to the extraordinary and life threatening.

In the past decade, allergic reactions to nutrition have increased dramatically. More and more adults and children are being diagnosed with peanut and tree nut allergies, fueling in depth research in the area of food allergies and treatments.

Adults and youngsters have different food allergies that are the most common food allergies for the demographic. For youngsters, there is a relatively giant list of common food allergies. The most common food allergies in children are cow’s milk, chicken eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soybeans, and wheat.

These are all items that are found in nearly everybody’s natural diet, and it can be terribly difficult to totally rid the diet of one or more of these items. Fortunately , because of the increase in these common food allergies, substitute foods are widely available.

In adults, the list of most common food allergies is subtly different. Adults are most ordinarily allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, very similar to kids. However, other common food allergies include fish, shrimp, crabs, lobsters and other crustaceans, clams, oysters, mussels and other mollusks, fruits, and vegetables.

Other items that are far more uncommon but cause grim anaphylaxis reactions are vegetables, shellfish, and fish.
